Soaring instrumentals and deeply expressive, emotive vocals meet with the fearless vulnerability of honest, poetic lyrics – songwriter and artist Lisa E. Williams injects a clear edge of identity and purpose into modern music. Driving with a lifelong passion for writing and a simultaneous cultural breadth that spans the globe, Lisa’s military and musical backgrounds unite for a truly versatile and compelling sound. Inspired by her own father playing Hendrix and the Beatles at home, as much so as the likes of James Taylor, Heart, and Dan Folgelberg, Lisa has been playing guitar since self-teaching at just ten years old.
As such, musicianship is second nature, so the soulful intention of each song shines with unquestionable brightness. No stranger to the stage, Lisa has performed across the US – Atlanta, Maryland, New York – and has received invitations to play at two BMI singer-songwriter showcases in recent years. Her songwriting tells stories of truth and experience, her voice resounds for its purity and power. Comparisons to Tracy Chapman have been suggested in the past, with renowned media outlets like The Washington Post noting Lisa’s ‘exceptional voice’, and music supervisor Peter Davis remarking upon how ‘unique and powerful’ her delivery is.
From the depths and intimacy of ‘Set Me Free’, to the poetic weight and bold emotion of the latest release ‘Quick Fix’, Lisa’s voice consistently moves listeners in a fresh and authentic way. Blending deeply human qualities of writing and performance with a humble, simple yet effective manner of sound design, Lisa’s music breathes honesty and uplift into the room – raising the pulse and inciting a sense of connection like no other. Two of her original releases have already been signed to separate sync licensing houses.
As a long-standing advocate for mental health services and suicide prevention, Lisa is devoted to the cause, and is currently focused on collaboration to reach new listeners and bring new aspects of her music to life. She hopes to continue bridging the gap between artist and audience – inspiring those who long for understanding, realness, and the memorable embrace of finely crafted, intentional escapism.
